THE QUESTIONS WE HEAR

Let’s talk
about your teeth.

How often should I have a dental hygiene visit?

Your schedule depends on your oral health, home-care habits and any gum concerns. We can discuss a recall interval after an assessment instead of applying one schedule to everyone.

When should my child first see a dentist?

The Canadian Dental Association recommends an assessment by a dentist within six months of the first tooth appearing, or by age one. A dental hygiene visit can support healthy habits; it does not replace a dentist’s examination.

Can I visit if dental appointments make me nervous?

Yes. Tell us before your appointment so we can talk about what helps you feel comfortable. We can explain the steps, agree on a pause signal and take your questions one at a time.

Do scaling and polishing damage teeth?

Scaling removes deposits that brushing cannot remove. Polishing is selected according to the surface and the type of stain. The approach should match your teeth, gum condition and restorations. Ask about sensitivity and any concerns before treatment.

Do I need X-rays at every visit?

Not necessarily. A dentist determines the need for dental X-rays using your history, current findings and risk factors. Ask about the reason for an image and whether recent images can be used. This website does not advertise on-site X-ray services.

Will whitening change the colour of my veneers?

Whitening works on natural teeth. It does not whiten crowns, veneers or fillings in the same way. Surface stain removal is a separate process, and its suitability depends on the restoration material.

Is my online appointment request a confirmed booking?

No. The practice needs to confirm the date, time and service with you. Please wait for that confirmation before attending.

Is LiL Dental Hygiene a home-based office?

Yes. LiL Dental Hygiene operates from a home-based office at 294 McBride Cres in Newmarket. Please contact us to arrange your visit before attending.

Is there a cat at the location?

Yes. A cat lives at this home-based location. If you or your child has a cat allergy, please tell us before requesting or attending a visit so we can discuss whether this setting is suitable.

Can I ask about fees before my visit?

Yes. Visit our Pricing page for the fees entered by the practice, or request a personalized estimate. We will discuss recommended care and expected costs before treatment.
